In 2023, the Nitrogen Working Group officially became a branch of the Office for Sustainability, deepening a collaboration that has been central to UVA's effort to reduce its nitrogen footprint 30% by 2030. Together, we work across data collection, community outreach, and engagement on Grounds, combining the NWG's research focus with the Office's reach and resources.
Check out some of the projects we work on together below:
Let This Sink In
The Let This Sink In Journal began as a pilot project implemented in the Page-Emmett Dorm. Inspired by the Stall Seat Journal, the project involves a poster affixed to the mirror above dorm sinks that contains information related to sustainability.

RA Events
NWG has collaborated with the Office of Sustainability on a vegetarian cookout available to RAs in order to emphasize plant-forward eating as a means of lowering a nitrogen footprint.
In addition, the Office is working with the NWG to incorporate nitrogen content into its information sessions.
We look forward to expanding our collaborations with the Office of Sustainability!
