Chris Whitehead, doctoral candidate in the Department of History, researches the indigenous history of northeast North America during the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. His dissertation examines the Lake Champlain Valley as a social, cultural, and political borderland between French, British, Abenaki, and Haudenosaunee areas of settlement and control.
