A new, 4th edition of the play -- basically identical to the 3rd Story Line Press edition from 2000 -- was published in 2022 by Story Line Press, now an imprint of Red Hen Press in Pasadena, CA. This edition should be used for the play's productions, after coordinating with Red Hen Press at http://www.redhen.org for the purchase of required copies and with Rita Dove's office at rfd4b@virginia.edu for staging contracts/permissions. Schools who need multiple copies of the play in their classes should get in touch with Red Hen Press as well. For individual reading purposes, the complete text of the play can also be found in the magazine American Theatre, vol. 13, no. 9 (Nov. 1996), in the anthology Retellings, edited by M. B. Clarke and A. G. Clarke (McGraw-Hill, 2004), and in the U.K. edition published by Oberon Press in London in 1999.
