OPTIONAL MICROPLASTIC SAMPLE
An emerging contaminant of concern in the aqueous environment, microplastics have recently been measured in atmospheric
deposition and streamwater in relatively remote locations and their impacts on the ecology of headwater streams has yet to be
established. Subsequent to stream chemistry sampling for VTSSS 2021, a sampler can elect to take an additional sample for microplastics. Collecting samples at these stream sites will help us take a first step in assessing how pervasive this conaminant is in our environment.
A pre-washed, pre-labeled glass bottle with sampling instructions attached will be provided to samplers electing to collect a microplastic sample.
