Sebastian grew up near Stuttgart, Germany and attended the University of Stuttgart, where he earned his BS and MS in Chemistry, researching the reduction of CO2 on gas diffusion electrodes and the selective hydrogenation of alkynes. After a short stint with the Personick group at Wesleyan University during a semester abroad in 2022 he decided to pursue a PhD with the group which he started in August 2023. His research interests generally are in the field of nanomaterials and catalysis for energy applications. Outside of lab, Sebastian enjoys cooking, hiking and other outdoor activities as well as watching his favorite soccer club VfB Stuttgart struggle to stay in the first division.
