This fall, the University of Virginia became the nation's top public university according to U.S. News & World Report , moving ahead of Michigan and the University of California. The magazine's eighth annual survey ranked the University seventeenth out of 229 national universities, up from twenty-first in last year's ranking. We achieved this position even though our costs on a per-student basis were less than any other school in the top twenty-five.
Our individual programs have also been well-received. U.S. News & World Report placed the School of Architecture among the nation's top ten. The Darden School placed twelfth in Business Week's rankings, with its programs in general management and marketing receiving special note.
