Dr. Hanna Makowski

she/her

Post-Doctoral Climate Fellow, The Environmental Institute

Hanna is joining the lab on a Climate Fellowship from UVA's Environmental Institute. She is interested in determining the genetic architecture of intraspecific variation in tree leaf phenology. Hanna is joining us from a postdoc at Black Rock Forest, where she worked to characterize intraspecific variation in four species (red oak, chestnut oak, sugar maple, red maple). Hanna did her PhD in the Galloway lab at UVA, studying plant mating system evolution. In her spare time, Hanna likes to paint, fly-fish, and take her greyhound Monty for long walks.
