Opportunities

We are not actively recruiting graduate students at this time.  Stay tuned for updates for the 2026-27 school year, or email Dr. Blumstein!

Undergraduate

We welcome undergraduates across disciplines who are looking to develop and learn skills in field work/ data collection, laboratory analyses, or develop their own projects that align with the work in our lab.  At this time, we are able to compensate students with research/ course credit.  We are also happy to work to supervise DMPs or other projects throughout your department (typically Environmental Science or Biology).

Please feel free to reach out directly to Dr. Blumstein, or to any graduate students or post-doctoral students.  We're always looking for folks who want to help and learn!

Feel free to also browse other interesting opportunities in the department!

Graduate Students

Please check out UVA Environmental Science Department’s graduate website for more information on applying and requirements.

It's highly encouraged for prospective students to reach out to Dr. Blumstein by email prior to the application due date with a short statement of interest and a copy of the resume/cv. It is also encouraged for students to apply for graduate fellowships during their application process, which Dr. Blumstein will happily work on with prospective students. While PhDs are funded, these fellowships would afford you more flexibility in your research interests, a higher pay rate, and great preparation for future fellowship and grant applications.
