Dr. Alex Rice

Research Technician

Alex recently completed her Ph.D. in the biogeochemistry lab at UVA, where she studied how soil minerals and nutrient dynamics influence forest productivity with the goal of informing more sustainable and climate-resilient forest management practices across the northeastern United States. She now works as our laboratory technician, supporting projects that explore the genomic and physiological drivers of forest resilience through DNA extractions, and nonstructural carbohydrate assays. Outside of research, Alex enjoys hiking, foraging mushrooms, and rockhounding…truly just being outside!
