The University of Virginia regularly offers a diversity of courses focused on South Asia, at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

There is no major or minor in South Asian Studies currently offered directly by the South Asia Center, but the Department of Middle Eastern and South Asian Languages and Cultures (MESALC) offers both a major and minor with a concentration in South Asia.
Religious Studies also allows for a range of major concentrations focused on South Asia, as well as a minor that permits the same.
MESALC also hosts an M.A. Program in the subject area, and M.A./Ph.D. courses of study that engage in South Asian Studies may be pursued in the Departments of Anthropology, Art, English, History, Media Studies, Politics, Religious Studies, and Sociology.
