Background

A specialization in the development of astronomy instrumentation suits me well as I really enjoy working at the intersection of science and engineering.  I take pride in helping work on instruments that astronomers find useful in their observations of the cosmos.

Having been at UVa for two-decades, I've had the opportunity to work on a variety of instruments, primarily near-infrared spectrographs, for a range of optical telescopes.  As most instrumentation projects require a range of expertise and capabilities, I've also had the good fortune to collaborate over the years with many skilled practitioners of astronomy instrumentation, from other academic institutions, observatories, consultants, and vendors.  It takes a village!
