Ependymal Cell Alterations in the 3xTg Mice

Ependymal cells are neuroepithelial cells that line the ventricular surface of the brain and the central canal of the spinal cord.  Through specialized processes called cilia and microvilla, ependymal cells contribute to synthesis and the circulation of the cerebrospinal fluid, and absorption of molecules back into brain. Ependyma lines the germinal, subventricular zone in development and acts as a reservoir for neurodegeneration in the adult.

In the 3xTg mice model, ependymal cells are characterized by oleic acid drops.
