I really like this piece, about why public stigmatization of many people who worked in the Trump administration is not only acceptable, and not only appropriate, but perhaps morally urgent.
The collapse of Newsweek, once a central magazine in American journalism: “In recent years there has been a rise in “pink slime journalism”: outlets that pose as local news outlets but rely on algorithms. These outlets manipulate readers’ trust in local news as a means of delivering right-wing talking points. Something similar is happening at Newsweek.”
“A year ago, McNeil said, a White middle-aged man posted a message on her Facebook page that said: 'We liked you better when you just quoted Bible verses.'” The failure of evangelical theology to see beyond a very narrow kind of individualism, to have any awareness of context a sociological imagination, or any sense of self-criticism, is real.
This strikes me as about 95% right, and I should just stop there and have you read it. Then again, this piece, written in reply, is worth your while too. (But I still think the former one is better.)
