Hanna in Herbaria!

This past week, I collected sugar maple (and closely related species) leaf tissue from herbarium specimens ranging from Guatemala -> Maine! One collector collected all of these for her dissertation a little over 10 years ago. She did some sequencing, but that was before the sequencing was as cheap as it is today, so she was only able to look at a couple of genes. Really informative and good work, but we’re excited to see the whole genome!!
