Getting to the Core (Cambium) of Red Oaks

Liz, Ethan, Tess, and Emma E spent a few days coring some (over 100) red oaks at the Smithsonian Conservation Biology Institute’s ForestGEO plot. Over two very humid days we collected over 300 ~3cm deep cores from red oaks for DNA extraction from the wood! A great time, and we got to meet Stuart Davies, Director of the ForestGEO Network.
