Sandip photo Welcome! I am an Associate Professor in the Department of Economics and Co-Director of UVA-CLEAR (Corruption Lab for Ethics, Accountability, and Rule of Law) at the University of Virginia. My research interests are in development economics, political economy, and public economics, with a particular focus on corruption, governance, and the delivery of public benefits and services. I am a co-editor of the Journal of Public Economics, an affiliate of the Bureau for Research and Economic Analysis of Development (BREAD), and an affiliate of the Jameel Poverty Action Lab (J-PAL), where I am also a board member of the DIGIFI Africa initiative and co-direct the Payments and Governance Research Program (PGRP). Prior to UVA, I taught at Dartmouth College from 2009-2016, received my PhD from Harvard University in 2009, worked at NERA, the Brookings Institution, and the Center for Global Development between 2000-2004, and got a BA from Swarthmore College (with Highest Honors) in 2000.

Here is a recent profile, and two high-res photos.
