Aaron Kinard is a second-year graduate student in the Department of Sociology at the University of Virginia. Originally from Sturgeon Bay, WI, he received his B.S. in Educational Policy Studies and History from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. His research interests are race, place, and whiteness. Specifically, his work is focused on how whiteness, racism, and white peoples’ understandings of race, are shaped by place. In his free time, Aaron enjoys watching movies, trying new foods, and reading.
