Climate Fellow at the Environmental Institute, University of Virginia, USA
Dr. Shivam Singh is currently a Climate Fellow (Postdoctoral Research Associate) at the Environmental Institute, University of Virginia, where he continues to advance his research in climate science. He holds a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology Indore. His doctoral research focused on understanding atmospheric rivers—narrow corridors of concentrated moisture in the atmosphere—and their role in extreme weather events such as floods and droughts. His work involved leveraging deep learning techniques to predict the occurrence and impact of these atmospheric phenomena, aiming to improve forecasting and mitigate the effects of climate extremes.
Education:
- Ph.D. in Civil Engineering (IIT Indore): Research focused on the characterization, drivers, impacts, and predictability of atmospheric rivers using advanced machine learning models.
- M.Tech in Civil Engineering (Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology, Bhopal)
- B.Tech in Civil Engineering (Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology, Bhopal)
Research Interests:
- Climate Change and Climate Extremes
- Deep Learning Applications in Climate Science
- Predictive Modeling for Extreme Weather Events
- Climate Change and Its Impact on Water Resources
