Roberto I. Armengol

Postdoctoral Fellow in the College of Arts and Sciences

Roberto I. Armengol is a postdoctoral fellow in the College of Arts and Sciences and a sociocultural anthropologist with extensive field experience in urban Cuba. His research looks at how the political economy of late socialism is reshaped in the everyday practices of Havana’s working-class entrepreneurs. In 2019-2020, he held a Ford Fellowship to extend his ethnographic research on cooperative solidarity in greater Havana.
