Marlene Daut, Professor of American Studies and African American and African Studies, specializes in early Caribbean, 19th-century African American, and early modern French colonial literary and historical studies. She is most recently the author of Baron de Vastey and the Origins of Black Atlantic Humanism (Palgrave Macmillan, 2017).
