PhD Student in the Department of Spanish, Italian & Portuguese
Ivana’s intellectual interests are at the intersection of Afro-Latin American Studies and Colonial Studies. With an eye towards narrative inquiry, they are drawn to exploring transatlantic themes of diaspora, resistance, peoplehood, and empire. At UVA, she is currently pursuing interdisciplinary coursework and training in the direction of producing multimodal public scholarship. When not doling out unsolicited reminders that reggaetón started in Panamá, they love to make arepas (rellenas de lo que sea) al estilo venezolano de su Abuela Rosalía.
