Timothy A. Salthouse is Brown-Forman Professor of Psychology in the Department of Psychology at the University of Virginia.  He previously was Professor of Psychology at The University of Missouri – Columbia, and Regents Professor of Psychology at The Georgia Institute of Technology.

He is a fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), the American Psychological Association (APA), the American Psychological Society (APS), and the Gerontological Society of America, and a member of the Psychonomic Society.

Dr. Salthouse received his Ph.D. from the University of Michigan in 1974.  He received the APA Division 20 Distinguished Contribution Award in 1995, and was named an APS William James Fellow in 1998. He was editor of the journal Psychology and Aging from 1991 through 1996, and has published 10 books and over 250 chapters and journal articles.

Dr. Salthouse has previously served on the NRC Panel on Human Factors Research Needs for an Aging Population, on the NAS Panel on Future Directions for Cognitive Research on Aging, and on the NAS Panel on Health and Safety Needs of Older Workers.  His research has been supported by the National Institute on Aging since 1978, and has included a Research Career Development Award and two MERIT Awards (1990-2000, 2005-2015).
