Here's a review I did in The Hedgehog Review of a really thought-provoking (and good!) book by Phil Gorski. I'm ok with how it ended up, but I'm so prolix that the patient editors had a hard time organizing my ideas into some coherence.
If I had more time to think about this, I'd especially like to develop some of the stuff about the new social-institutional ecology of our moral discourse. Once that discourse was mostly hosted, I'd argue, by a narrow set of instititutions, especially Protestant churches. Now, not so much. It's a big story, and explains a lot of our fights these days.
Anyway, for what it's worth, I give it to you here. Rock on, be well!
