It's easy to be cynical of all the people, not just GOP politicians, posting pious platitudes and anodyne quotes on MLK Day. Here are two more challenging pieces.
One is by the historian Paul Harvey on MLK's radical vision. After all, when he was killed, many Americans thought him a dangerous thinker, and for their comfortable and self-congratulatory perspective, they weren't wrong.
Another piece is a review from 2018 of books contextualizing his views especially over the final decade of his life.
