A Message from President John T. Casteen III

March 29, 2010

To Members of the Graduating Class:

As you near the end of your studies, I write to congratulate you and to provide information about Finals weekend, May 22 and 23.

The Valedictory Exercises will be held on Saturday, May 22. At Valediction, University awards and the class gift are presented. David Baldacci (Law ’86) will speak. Mr. Baldacci is a best-selling author and philanthropist who serves as a national ambassador for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. After the ceremony, please plan to join Betsy and me at Carr’s Hill for a reception to honor the class of 2010 and your families.

Final Exercises and diploma ceremonies will be held on Sunday, May 23. I will have the honor of speaking at Final Exercises during this final year of my presidency. At once joyful and dignified, the ceremony is a celebration of your achievements. I think you will find that Finals memorably honors your years here.

Please remember that alcoholic beverages are prohibited on the Lawn and at all diploma ceremonies. Graduating students or guests who bring alcohol will be asked to leave the ceremonies.

We hope that you and your family enjoy the weekend’s activities. I wish you all the best for the future, and I invite you to return often to the University.

Sincerely

John T. Casteen III

President
