Artwork used for the cover of the President's Report and the Financial Reports were commissioned by the University and painted in May 1999 by Philip Geiger, professor at the University's McIntire Department of Art. The cover painting is titled "Portico, Twelve Noon." The painting introducing the Financial Report is called "View from her Rotunda Walkway 8 a.m." Geiger's work has been featured at galleries and exhibitions around the country, including the Reynolds Gallery in Richmond.
Many of the photographs used in this report were shot and specially treated by Luca E. DiCecco, a Charlottesville artist. To produce the effects he sought, DiCecco photographed the University during the summer of 1999, digitized the images, and printed them on art paper using a color inkjet printer.
