Xiangru grew up in Yuncheng, Shanxi, China. She obtained her Bachelor's degree in inorganic chemistry from Soochow University. Then she studied highly dispersed metal catalysts under the advisement of Prof. Zhangxiong Wu at Soochow University. She joined the Zhang group in 2019 as a visiting student with a focus on design and synthesis of single atom catalysts.
