I am the author of Baron de Vastey and the Origins of Black Atlantic Humanism (Palgrave, 2017); Tropics of Haiti: Race and the Literary History of the Haitian Revolution in the Atlantic World, 1789-1865 (Liverpool, 2015); and the forthcoming co-edited collection with Marion Rohrleitner and Grégory Pierrot, Haitian Revolutionary Fictions: An Anthology, which will be published with the University of Virginia Press in spring 2021. I am currently finishing an intellectual history of Haiti titled, Awakening the Ashes, which will be published with the University of North Carolina Press. My next book project, Dreaming Freedom: The Story of the First and Last King of Haiti, is under contract with Knopf/Pantheon. I am also co-editing with Kaiama L. Glover The Cambridge History of Haitian Literature.
