Marcos Pires (Chemistry) earned a doctorate in chemistry at Purdue University, and a bachelor’s in chemistry at Ithaca College. Before joining Lehigh’s faculty, Pires was an NIH post-doctoral fellow at the University of Pennsylvania. His research focuses on bacteriology and biochemistry, specifically, he works on immunotherapy and bacterial cell sensing and remodeling. His work has been highlighted by The Guardian, Smithonian, and various other news outlets.
