Pathway to Licensure for Montessori Teachers in VA!!!

Image Loading Montessori Science is thrilled to share that today, after years of advocacy partnership with the Virginia Montessori Association, MPPI, and the folks at Montessori Public School of Arlington, the state Board of Education approved our proposed pathway to licensure for Montessori teachers in the Arlington School District. Now, Montessori teachers with an AMI, AMS, or MACTE accredited credential are required to take just one additional course (mandated for all teachers by the Virginia Literacy Act) and pass the PRAXIS exams to earn a fully recognized VA state teaching license! This legislation has been a long time coming, and is the result of persistent and coordinated advocacy on the part of our multi-agency team.
