2019 Summer Research Assistant
Ty’Leik joins the Woodson Institute this year as a second year UVA student studying Government and African & African American Studies. He will spend the summer at Monticello working on the Getting Word oral history project. He is interested in the study of civil rights and the denial of such rights to people of color. These injustices encourage him to follow a pre-law path with the ultimate goal of becoming an attorney at law. When asked which historical time period he would live in, Ty’Leik answered the 1990s because of his passion for early R&B and singing.
