Marya, a student at Monticello High School, is also an enthusiastic member of the school theater program and enjoys taking classes in the humanities including English and History. She has completed research projects on the community services offered by the Black Panther Party as well as more creative ventures like a short documentary on biracial identity. She harnesses her talents for the performing arts, writing, and public speaking as mediums for sparking conversations about race and inequality. Marya will join a group of interns at Monticello to develop the Getting Word oral history project.
