Laila Hurd

2019 & 2018 Summer Research Assistant

Laila, a student at St. Anne’s Belfield and a returning intern at the Woodson Institute, is deeply invested in acknowledging all triumphs, tragedies, policies and social norms throughout history as doing so not only encourages more critical thinking but also usually results in greater tolerance. Laila is looking forward to continuing her learning in college by majoring in African American Studies, pursuing courses that investigate personal expressions through art, and generally cultivating a culture of empathy. This summer, she will help in the development of the Notes on the State podcast and Julian Bond Papers project.
