Joshua Morrison is a PhD Candidate (ABD) in the history department. His dissertation examines the history of American merchants (principally from Salem, MA) in the Western Indian Ocean - particularly in Zanzibar and Muscat - during the nineteenth century. His research interests also include the broader history of Americans in the Middle East.
