WELCOME TO SIE3D! 

My name is Shazrene S. Mohamed, and I am a professor of Astronomy at the University of Virginia (UVa). Prior to moving to Charlottesville, I spent two years as an Argelander Research Fellow at the University of Bonn in Germany, followed by a decade at the South African Astronomical Observatory and the University of Cape Town in South Africa. I was a Rhodes Scholar at the University of Oxford, where I earned my DPhil in astrophysics, and I received my A.B. from Harvard University in astrophysics and mathematics.

The SIE3D group at UVa primarily focuses on research in computational stellar astrophysics. We are part of the Virginia Institute of Theoretical Astronomy and UVa’s Exploding Stars & Time Domain Astronomy group, and we work closely with other astronomers in the Department of Astronomy, at the Virginia Initiative on Cosmic Origins (VICO) and the National Radio Astronomy Observatory (NRAO).
